TIME LOST:

Uva Festival 2018, Spain’s true boutique electronic festival, for friends by friends

A festival dedicated to contemporary culture through the interaction of music, visual arts and architecture. Uva stands in stark contradiction to mainstream music festivals, focusing instead on the elaborate curation of an intimate environment and unique atmosphere. Descalzos Viejos is a monastery from the 15th century, converted into a vineyard facing Ronda’s iconic cliffs. Sunken into the flourishing greenery, this plot of land is a labyrinth of ancient walls and secret hideaways – the perfect environment to get lost in. Uva is located just 800m from Ronda town centre, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Music is the cornerstone of Uva. This year they’re mixing a variety of artists: committed veterans, cutting edge acts, unsung heroes and favourite family members. There’s also an expansion of stages by the addition of the third stage which is home to ambient, experimental jazz and everything in between.

Uva is committed to developing a sustainable and environmentally friendly festival with progressive and ambitious designs. To do so Uva has partnered with respected design and architecture outfit Zuloark. They will lead a design workshop in which students from different schools of design, architecture and arts school participate to construct, design and commission various elements of Uva.
The Second Life Program is designed to prolong the life of production pieces, which will be donated to public buildings, schools and non-profit organizations in Ronda.

Every year a different artist is invited to re-design the imagery and flyer of Uva. This year Luca Lozano was invited.

Throughout the festival there will be three major site-specific installations. Via interactive, light and kinetic elements they will generate relationships with music, the festival goers and the natural environment.

There will also be an open call for artists to submit proposals through the website’s “participate” section. For more information please email contact@uvafestival.com.
