How would you describe your recording studio and, what are the main peculiarities \/ most important gear over there?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

I would call my studio a cocoon, a room of a phantasy world where are no problems, limits or boundaries. I can be myself, I can be a child, I can just make my music. Gear wise it\u00b4s a nice mix of analogue machines and virtual instruments like all the UAD sound design tools and i.e. Arturia virtual synthesizers I also use.<\/p>\n

When you started to set it up, and what are you still missing there?
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Well, you never can really finalize the compilation of an audio studio because there are so many magical old machines you cannot just click and buy online. I personally started like almost 30 years ago with a mixing desk, a Roland TB 303 acid bass machine and an Akai S-1000 Sampler which had the incredible hard disc volume of 2MB (laughs).<\/p>\n

Do you have any kind of ritual before and during composing some new music?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

I always salute my machines as they are my friends. They are loyal friends which are like my personal orchestra and they help me to direct my vision, creating space music. I think they deserve it.<\/p>\n

The entire view on my little cute studio. When we made the photo session I just received a new addition which was the Moog One, a fantastic new model of the Moog family. To the right the wonderful Waldorf Quantum, a modern wavetable synthesizer which J\u00fcrgen Driessen at Waldorf kindly borrowed me to try and test.<\/div>\n

This is my crazy music box for the weird elements of my music, the reissue of the Buchla Music Easel which was released in the 70s and only bought by nutty music freaks doing experimental stuff.<\/div>\n

The grand Dame, an original Minimoog Model D from 1975 which I use in every track of mine. Stevie Wonder, Pink Floyd and Tina Turner have already used it in the 1970s, a power package and one of a kind and the last synth I sell if I will have to one day.<\/div>\n

In front the Arturia Drumbrute Impact I have just kindly received from my friends at Arturia, a fresh sounding unique drum machine for little budgets I however love a lot. Besides this an Icelandic and stone fileld shell my good friend Fridfinnur Sigurdsson, producer of Sissy Ey, donated me a few years ago after he returned from fishing. Love its sound.<\/div>\n
