Having passed away far too young in 2014 at the tender age of 59, Frankie Knuckles<\/strong> has been sorely missed by the House music community<\/strong>. Since that day his legacy has been commemorated by his official charitable foundation The Frankie Knuckles Foundation <\/strong>who continue to celebrate his work as one of the most significant cornerstone and seminal DJs of our time. Frankie Knuckles was a generational talent, LGBTQ+ ambassador and all round good human.<\/p>\n

Originally from New York and later going to Chicago becoming the DJ that was to set the tone for the sound that we call House today (after the Warehouse). He was awarded the moniker \u2018The Godfather of House\u2019<\/em> a title which acknowledged his contribution to the birth of the genre. With the moniker however he was humbled to receive it, always wanting to put the music first and not the limelight on himself as a DJ or producer.<\/p>\n

As well as an outstanding individual DJ, Frankie also was part of the Def Mix family<\/strong>, he shared the international clubbing line-ups with fellow DJs David Morales<\/strong> and Satoshi Tomie<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

He was also a Grammy<\/strong> winner and boasted American President Obama as a fan and supporter. Going onto release many culturally significant records including \u2018Baby Wants To Ride\u2019<\/em> and \u2018Your Love\u2019<\/em> both featuring vocalist Jamie Principle, The Whistle Song and Tears featuring Robert Owens.<\/p>\n

Remix wise he worked with the titans of the global music scene including Chaka Khan, Janet Jackson, Diana Ross, Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston to name a few.<\/p>\n

On Jan 18th<\/sup> 2025<\/strong> we will be remembering him on what was to be his 70th<\/sup> birthday<\/strong>. To celebrate this milestone and to continue the recognition to his contribution to House music, we have invited a host of his contemporary DJs and musical peers to join us in an event to mark his legacy.<\/p>\n

There will be two official Frankie Knuckles Foundation approved events scheduled both in the UK on the 25th<\/sup> January<\/strong> at fabric<\/strong> and at Metro<\/strong> in Chicago<\/strong> on the 19th<\/sup> January<\/strong>. All proceeds being donated to the Frankie Knuckles Foundation.<\/p>\n
