AVA <\/strong>returned to the Titanic Slipways <\/strong>for its 11th edition, <\/strong>and once again Belfast <\/strong>showed up in full force. 20,000 music lovers<\/strong> joined AVA<\/strong> across our festival, the talks, the \u2018Seanchoiche\u2019<\/em> evening of storytelling & our afterparties; with the kind of energy only this city can bring. As Belfast\u2019s iconic docklands became a world stage for sound and culture, AVA 2025 reaffirmed its position as a defining independent force in global music.<\/p>\n

With over 70 artists<\/strong>, four distinct stages, immersive visuals, and a cultural programme of talks, workshops, and storytelling, AVA delivered a pivotal weekend rooted in community, progression, and bold creativity.<\/p>\n

Overmono\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0live set on Friday night was a standout moment, made even more powerful by a surprise guest appearance from Dublin-born artist\u00a0For Those I Love<\/strong>, performing \u201cI Have A Love\u201d. On Saturday night,\u00a0Underworld\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0monumental live set was a spiritual closer, with\u00a0Born Slippy<\/em>\u00a0reverberating across the Slipways to a sea of raised hands. Across the weekend,\u00a0VTSS<\/strong>,\u00a0KI\/KI<\/strong>,\u00a0Jazzy<\/strong>, and\u00a0Funk Tribu<\/strong>\u00a0kept the audiovisual main stage,\u00a0The Slipways,<\/em>\u00a0at full tilt.<\/p>\n

This year also marked the debut of\u00a0The Dock<\/em>\u00a0\u2014 a striking, amphitheatre-style stage co-curated with Resident Advisor \u2014 which quickly became a crowd favourite with its tiered dancefloor and cutting-edge audiovisual production. High-energy sets from\u00a0Job Jobse<\/strong>,\u00a0Sally C<\/strong>,\u00a0Spray<\/strong>,\u00a0999999999<\/strong>,\u00a0Bashka<\/strong>,\u00a0Minna-no-Kimochi<\/strong>, and more made it one of the most talked-about new additions. Several sets have been recorded and will be released soon.<\/p>\n

The enclosed rave haven of\u00a0The Pumphouse<\/em>\u00a0pulsed all weekend, with heavyweight moments from\u00a0Ewan McVicar<\/strong>,\u00a0Clouds<\/strong>,\u00a0AK Sports<\/strong>,\u00a0X CLUB.<\/strong>, and live performances from\u00a0Chalk<\/strong>,\u00a0Fcukers<\/strong>, and\u00a0Sloucho<\/strong>. Artists like\u00a0DJ Time of the Month<\/strong>,\u00a0AR1AH<\/strong>, and\u00a0OK Williams<\/strong>\u00a0brought the underground energy, reaffirming AVA\u2019s ongoing commitment to platforming the next generation.<\/p>\n

Newly redesigned for 2025,\u00a0The Yard<\/em>\u00a0platformed the best from Northern Ireland and the Republic with packed-out sets from\u00a0Jordan Nocturne<\/strong>,\u00a0EMA<\/strong>,\u00a0Swoose,<\/strong>\u00a0Ponyhawke<\/strong>,\u00a0Twitch<\/strong>, Reger and more from open \u2018til close.<\/p>\n

At the AVA Talks Programme, Belfast\u2019s cultural fabric came into sharp focus \u2014 from an open and inspiring fireside chat with\u00a0Sally C<\/strong>, to the next generation of creative talent, to a packed\u00a0Nightlife Industry Forum<\/strong>\u00a0exploring the challenges and future of the city\u2019s late-night economy. With over 20 leading voices in the room, there was a clear consensus: Belfast urgently needs a sustainable late-night transport system, especially on weekends.<\/p>\n

Belfast\u2019s Night Czar<\/strong>, Michael Stewart, emphasised the need for safe, planned routes home as part of licence renewals, while AVA Founder Sarah McBriar, who spearheaded the forum, highlighted that a vibrant night-time ecosystem relies on audiences being able to get to and from venues safely. Charlotte Dryden, CEO of the\u00a0Oh Yeah Music Centre<\/strong>, summed up the collective feeling: \u201cWe need to just get on with doing something \u2014 we need to find a way to pilot and further prove the need.\u201d<\/p>\n

The programme closed with an emotional evening at AVA x\u00a0Seancho\u00edche\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0My Love for Belfast<\/em>\u00a0\u2014 an intimate storytelling night that powerfully captured what the city means to those who shape it.<\/p>\n

This year also saw the launch of\u00a0The Hot Spot<\/em>, AVA\u2019s new hospitality hub with\u00a0Wing-It<\/strong>, offering surprise games, ice-cold drinks, wings and a proper bit of craic.<\/p>\n

As always, production was centre stage. AVA levelled up across the board with new lighting and visuals from\u00a0Pitch Studios<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Visual Spectrum Studio<\/strong>, a\u00a0Funktion-One<\/strong>\u00a0system by\u00a0Hertz-U Audio<\/strong>, and powerful design across every stage.\u00a0The Dock\u2019s<\/em>\u00a0tiered structure, backdropped by golden hour skies over Belfast, made for some of the weekend\u2019s most iconic moments.<\/p>\n

Not only did we sell out, but we showed the world just how powerful a place Belfast is \u2014 with unforgettable performances from global headliners to the most exciting emerging talent, an elevated hospitality experience, and sunshine across both days.
