061 LET’S TALK ABOUT YOU AND YOUR ROLE AT PARADISE. CAN YOU EXPLAIN A BIT ABOUT YOUR DUTIES? Of course! So my typical daily role for Paradise would be to advance the show for all artists that play each week. We currently have 3 rooms operating at [UNVRS] and roughly 12/13 artists per week. I make sure everything is running smoothly - providing ground transfers, confirming set times, tech + hospitality riders, organising sound checks, artist dinners, guestlists, crew lists, contacts on the DOS, advancing the pre-party at Mambos and anything in between! I work across the whole operation of the event, for example productionrelated needs like sourcing bespoke neon signs and decorations, logistics for the dancers and content team, and assisting with organising the merchandise which is always exciting to see each year. Then I work on the night in the club with our amazing Paradise team, I couldn’t do it without them. We will be meeting and greeting the artists, hosting them and guests, mainly making sure everyone is having a great time! For our Paradise worldwide shows, I sadly can’t attend all of them but I’m also in charge of advancing and logistics for the team working on the events. We have more to come this year Paradise in, Puglia, UK Creamfields, ADE Amsterdam, New York & LA. TO CARRY OUT EVERYTHING YOU’VE JUST DESCRIBED, YOU MUST BE A VERY ORGANISED PERSON. HOW DO YOU MANAGE YOUR TIME? My super power is being able to multi-task and mentally compartmentalise all the different jobs that I know I need to do. That way I don’t get too overwhelmed and I can usually gauge how much time each task will need. I try to have normal working hours each day on my laptop but it does tend to go over in the busier months. Every Wednesday I am up for 24 hours… it’s so important to decompress after a solid day of working. IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE ARTISTS, DO THEY MAKE THINGS EASY FOR YOU? DO THEY DEMAND ANY ECCENTRICITIES, OR ARE THEY NORMAL PEOPLE WITH THE SAME NEEDS AS THE REST OF US? A lot of the artists that play for Paradise have become my friends! We have known each other for so many years now, so communicating with them is easy. I know what most of them have on their rider, or if they like things a particular way, and the crew they arrive with which means we can make their experience more personable. They’re normal people with the same needs but after the long hours of touring and lack of proper sleep, understandably some may need a little more TLC on arrival. IN YOUR JOB, WHAT IS THE MOST REWARDING ASPECT, AND WHAT WOULD BE YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE? The most rewarding part of my job is knowing that I’m part of an event that thousands of people come to each week to let loose and have fun, listen to music and dance! Being part of the process from the start and seeing all the production come together, feeling proud of your team and watching everyone’s reaction experiencing it for the first time. My worst nightmare is having something go wrong that I am completely unprepared for. Luckily that very rarely occurs but also I have to remind myself that shit happens and if it’s out of my control then to just let it be!
