TIME LOST:

TRESOR.BERLÍN CELEBRATES 30 YEARS OF LIFE

Since 1991, Tresor Berlin has been at the forefront of advanced club music. The club and its adjacent record label are firmly established in history as pioneering artists from the east and west, Europe and America, providing a platform for these artists to germinate their ideas for advanced new sounds, and broadcasting them to the world.

When Tresor opened on March 13th 1991 in a shack on Berlin’s Potsdamer Platz, beneath which the vault of the Wertheim department store lay, no one would have thought that from there would arise an institution that one day would celebrate 30 years of existence. The Tresor cellar, with its dance floor pressed between bank safes, the unique sound and the dense fog, became the formative stylistic starting point of a worldwide music and youth movement.

With the possibilities for the opening of the club still in the balance, this year will see the label take the centre stage to provide a statement on Tresor’s past, present and future.

At the centre of this statement will be a massive no-filler release featuring legendary artists and the most interesting new names in the genre. This special box-set pays respect to the masters that first pioneered the Detroit-Berlin connection and gave the previous three decades its sound. But it also represents a gaze to the future, presenting new artists who maintain a connection to the original mission contained in the Tresor sound: community, resistance and the world to come. For anyone with the slightest interest in where electronic music has come from, or to where it might travel next, this will be an essential artefact. Keep your ears sharp, as full details will be revealed on April 6th.

A book project featuring never-before-published colour photos, personal letters, scans, flyers and other relics from the last 30 years, will chronicle Tresor’s manic heyday in the 1990s and the creative emanations that convey its spirit to today.

With a slew of commissioned projects and rare reeditions to be revealed throughout the year, Tresor Records is proud to reveal today the remastered release of a classic from the early catalogue, 3MB feat. Magic Juan Atkins. Initially released in 1992, Juan Atkins joined forces with Moritz von Oswald and Thomas Fehlmann, for the second iteration of the 3 Men in Berlin project – producing a monumental collaboration between Berlin and Detroit that profoundly affected the path forward for Techno music.
