TIME LOST:

COCORICÒ , THE FAMOUS ITALIAN CLUB, CLOSES ITS DOORS DUE TO ECONOMIC PROBLEMS

The club opened in 1989 in Rimini, has been declared bankrupt as it owes more than € 800,000 in taxes.

Cocoricò’s economic problems are due in part to the death of Lamberto Lucaccioni, a 16-year-old boy who died after taking ecstasy at the club in the summer of 2015. Subsequently, the club was closed for four months during the high season, damaging its reputation and plunging it into a spiral of debt.

In its heyday, Cocoricò, which originally opened its doors as a restaurant, was one of the most popular clubs in Europe, famous for its pyramidal glass ceiling, where visuals were displayed while allowing light to enter when dawn began.

In the last 30 years, it has welcomed all the artists of the club scene. Without a doubt, it is sad news for one of the Italian temples of electronic music.
